The Law of the City

Server Rules

Short, fair, and enforced. Read them before you spawn in; they are what keeps every story in the city worth telling.

General

01 Account Creation

  • Houses, vehicles, items, currency, and all other in-game assets can not be sold or traded for real-world currency or valuables. This is a zero tolerance rule resulting in a permanent ban for all players involved. In-game assets can be transferred with the approval of a staff member.

  • When choosing a name for your character, please make sure it fits the following criteria:

  1. Names must be realistic and not contain or resemble any celebrity/iconic names.

  2. Names may not be comical or racist.

02 Account Responsibility

  • Players are responsible for their IP addresses, Steam accounts, Social Club accounts, and all hardware connected to their account. If you are banned from the server, please make a ban appeal and wait for a decision to be made by a staff member. EvokeRP is not affiliated with or endorsed by Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar Games, or any other rights holder.

  • Accounts are not to be traded or made transferable.

  • Accounts are only allowed 1 owner.

  • Accounts can not be shared with spouses, siblings, or friends.

03 Hacks, Bugs, & Third-Party Mods

  • Trainers, mod menus and other hacking software with similar functions are strictly prohibited.

  • Any player who is caught using any sort of hacking, modding software, or using bug exploits will be permanently banned. Players who take part as an accomplice will face similar punishment.

  • Always contact an Admin or other staff member immediately by using the ticket system if you find a hacker, bug, or exploit in the server as there are rewards and incentives to reporting these issues.

04 General Chat Rules & Harassment

  • Social media announcements, news articles, and advertisements must follow these guidelines:

  1. In Character content only.

  2. No offensive language or hate speech.

  3. No blatantly advertising illegal activities, drugs, or gangs.

  4. Must be a realistic advertisement.

  • Players may only speak and RP in English.

  • Advertising or discussing other communities in EvokeRP's community is strictly prohibited.

Roleplay

01 Offensive or Disgusting Roleplay

  • Roleplay that is offensive or disgusting is NOT tolerated.
    Examples:

    1. Rape or molestation.

    2. Public masturbation.

    3. Racism or racial slurs.

    4. Brutal torture.

    5. Very disgusting or absurd roleplay.

    6. Suicide RP.

  • EroticRP is tolerated with the exception that the RP takes place in locations where outside parties can’t be potentially exposed to it. If any participants become offended, deny the EroticRP or get disgusted and wish to stop the roleplay, the scenario must stop immediately! Failure to stop the roleplay will result in punishment.

02 Metagaming

  • Metagaming refers to the use of out-of-character (OOC) information or knowledge that a player obtained outside of the game to influence their in-character (IC) actions. Here are some examples of metagaming:

  1. Using Discord or other external communication platforms: Sharing IC information through out-of-character channels, such as Discord, without properly roleplaying it in-game.

  2. Acting on information from a previous character or server: Bringing knowledge from a different character or server into the current roleplay scenario without proper in-game justification.

  3. Assuming relationships without in-game interaction: Presuming familiarity or relationships with other characters based on OOC knowledge rather than developing those connections through in-game interactions.

  4. Using player tags or usernames to identify characters: Identifying or treating characters based on the player's username rather than through in-game interactions or character knowledge.

  5. Ignoring character knowledge boundaries: Separating the knowledge your character possesses from what you, as a player, know. Your character should only know information that they have learned through in-game experiences.

  6. Exploiting out-of-character knowledge for personal gain: Making in-game decisions solely based on OOC information, especially if it gives your character an unfair advantage.

03 Powergaming

  • Powergaming  refers to actions or RP that abuse game mechanics to gain an unfair advantage over other players. Here are some examples:

    1. Invincible, overpowered Characters: RPing characters with in-human strength or unrealistic traits that make them “untouchable”.

    2. Ignoring Roleplay Consequences: Ignoring the consequences of RP actions, such as refusing to acknowledge injuries or avoiding the impact of decisions in the RP scenario.

    3. Refusing Roleplay Interactions: Ignoring or rejecting roleplay interactions initiated by other players, preventing the natural flow of the story.

04 Robbing and Scamming

We want everyone to have fun and enjoy the server, to achieve this we must make sure all players are treated fairly. If you choose to roleplay or engage in an illegal activity such as robbing or scamming you must follow a few guidelines.

Robberies

  • Robbing a new player is prohibited. Players can not rob money or items from new players.

  • Players can not force others to withdraw money from a bank or ATM.

  • During player robberies, if the victim complies with all of the demands and orders, the victim should not be killed.

  • There is NO limit on the number of drugs, weapons or other items that can be robbed.

  • Player robberies require the victim's hands to be up and at least 2 guns pointed at the victim during “Rob” action.

  • Store robberies are a team effort and they require the right tools.

  • Bank heists require unique skills and knowledge to be successful.

Scamming

  • OOC scamming is strictly prohibited. All scams must be roleplayed in-game or via in-character content.

  • No scamming players' assets such as vehicles, houses, and properties.

  • There is no limit on how much in game currency can be scammed from other players.

05 Non-RP

  • Non-RP actions are behaviors that deviate from the intended RP experience. These actions are disruptive for the immersion and atmosphere, break server rules, and negatively impact the overall RP experience. Here are examples of Non-RP behavior:

    1. Breaking Character: Speaking or acting out-of-character (OOC) in an inappropriate context, such as discussing game mechanics or real-life topics in the middle of a roleplay scene.

    2. Ignoring RP Opportunities: Refusing to engage in roleplay interactions or avoiding opportunities to contribute to the ongoing narrative.

    3. Trolling: Intentionally behaving disruptively, harassing other players, or engaging in activities solely to annoy or provoke reactions.

    4. Player disconnection - Never disconnect during combat or an RP scenario. If you have disconnected for any reason, you must log back in and inform all parties of your disconnection in order to continue RP. Never log out if you're injured during combat, please wait until you're saved by EMS or until you have respawned at the medical center.

  • If a player's client has crashed or if they are kicked, that player will be allowed the same advantages they had before the crash/kick. If you feel another player intentionally disconnected to avoid RP, please make an Admin report immediately and a member of our staff will watch the RP scene to determine if punishment is needed.

Combat

01 No Crime Zones

  • No Crime Zones (NCZ) are set locations where major crimes are not allowed to be committed. These locations and their surrounding blocks are safe zones from all crimes.

  • You can determine if you're in a crime-free zone by looking next to your minimap for the "NCZ" icon.

  • Players will not be able to melee or attack in these areas. Lite RPing such shoving or initiating arguments for fights outside these zones are tolerated. However, if players engage in such acts, they are not permitted to return to NCZ to seek safety.

No Crime Zones:

Banks

Legal job locations

Government buildings (Court House, FBI, LSPD, ect.)

Medical Centers

Casino

  • Crime RP that is initiated outside any of these zones will NOT be voided if it's brought into a zone. However, if a player is in danger and has not committed any crimes and flees to a No Crime Zone, the pursuing party must not pursue any crime related actions within that zone. If the pursuing party feels it was an unfair evasion, please make a report with evidence that the victim engaged in illegal or criminal activities before fleeing to the NCZ.

02 RDM, VDM and KOS

  • Random Deathmatch (RDM) refers to the act of killing other players without any valid in-game reason or RP basis.

    1. Unprovoked Attacks: Attacking or killing other players without any roleplay initiation or valid in-character reason.

    2. Shooting without Interaction: Shooting at other players without engaging in any form of roleplay or communication, violating the principle of initiating interaction before resorting to violence.

    3. Ignoring Roleplay Context: Killing someone without considering the ongoing roleplay scenario or without any connection to the current in-game events.

    4. Revenge Killing: Killing a player who recently killed your character without any roleplay justification, breaking the continuity and fairness of the roleplaying experience.

    5. Indiscriminate Violence: Engaging in violence or attacking others without adhering to the server's roleplay rules or guidelines.

    6. Ignoring In-Character Consequences: Disregarding the potential in-character consequences of violent actions, such as legal repercussions, conflicts with law enforcement, or negative impacts on your character's story.

  • Vehicle Deathmatch (VDM) refers to the act of using vehicles to intentionally harm, kill, or attack other players without any valid in-game reason or proper roleplay (RP) basis.

    1. Unprovoked Vehicle Attacks: Deliberately running over, ramming, or using a vehicle to kill another player without any prior roleplay interaction, threat, or in-character justification.

    2. Drive-by Without Context: Using a vehicle to shoot at or run down players while ignoring any ongoing roleplay scenario, without attempting communication or RP initiation first.

    3. Ignoring Roleplay Situation: Ramming or hitting players during a scene (e.g., a traffic stop, conversation, or peaceful interaction) without it being part of a logical in-character escalation.

    4. Revenge VDM: Using a vehicle to kill or attack a player who previously killed your character (or was involved in an incident) without proper RP buildup or new in-character motivation.

    5. Indiscriminate Vehicle Violence: Recklessly driving into crowds, chasing and running over players, or causing mass casualties with vehicles outside of approved events, robberies, or justified RP conflicts.

    6. Vehicle Ramming in Pursuits: Abusing vehicles to ram police or other players excessively during a chase in ways that prioritize killing over realistic roleplay (e.g., unrealistic pit maneuvers aimed purely at death rather than escape or arrest).

    7. Ignoring In-Character Consequences: Treating vehicle-based killings as low-stakes actions without acknowledging potential outcomes like vehicle impoundment, wanted levels, character injuries, insurance claims, or faction repercussions.

  • Kill on Sight (KOS) is the act of killing or attacking another player immediately upon seeing them, without any prior interaction, roleplay initiation, valid in-character reason, or warning.

    • Immediate Attacks on Sight: Spotting another player and instantly shooting, running them over, or attacking them with no attempt at communication, robbery, or roleplay.

    • No Interaction Policy: Killing players the moment they come into view (e.g., driving past them, walking out of a building, or appearing on the street) without any in-character context or buildup.

    • Faction-Based KOS: Attacking members of rival factions or certain groups on sight without any current in-game conflict, active war declaration, or ongoing roleplay reason.

    • Random Player Hunting: Roaming the map specifically looking for players to kill the second they are spotted, rather than engaging in natural roleplay scenarios.

    • Revenge KOS: Killing a player immediately upon seeing them again after a previous death, without allowing for new roleplay development or character interaction.

    • Ignoring Safe Zones or Neutral Areas: Attacking players on sight in areas that are generally considered peaceful or protected (e.g., spawn areas, certain public hubs, or during server events), unless explicitly allowed by rules.

    • No Warning or Escalation: Failing to give any verbal warning, demand, or opportunity for the other player to react before opening fire.

03 New Life Rule

  • When a player dies and respawns, the character's memory is wiped of all past events that lead to the death.

  • Players may not use past RP information after the death.

  • If the character was murdered, that character will not remember their killer, accomplices, or witnesses. However, if the character is injured but not dead, you may have a chance of being saved by EMS medic or another player.

  • If your character is saved by EMS or another player and treated at the hospital for the injuries, that character will still have the memories of how they were injured and the person/people who injured them.

04 Disclaimer
